DISCO NIGHTS is a major fundraiser that kicks off the celebration of LCLT’s 100th anniversary.
“Disco Nights” has character sketches, songs covered by groups and soloists, dance routines, and participation by audience members.
AVAILABLE ROLES INCLUDE:
• Men and women in their 20s-40s who have complicated relationships with each other — and who all want to win a $400 disco dance contest. The roles require dialogue, various levels (including low!) of dancing ability, singing for some, and some improvisational skill.
• Dancers who re-create disco dance moves — either authentically or satirically. Most of these roles do not require dialogue.
• Singers who look and sound like popular ’70s vocalists and musical groups. Any ages.
• A house emcee who moves the action along and engages the audience.
• A charismatic club DJ who runs the dance floor. (This is an acting role only — technicians will do the actual record playing.)
• A comedian who does a short set, age 40-plus.
• Various disco divas, club staff, and double-cast cameos. Any ages.
• A colorful disco owner — male or female, age 40-plus.
Performance dates are June 19-21. Cast members must be available for rehearsals on selected weeknights.
The show is an original work by LCLT. The “immersive experience” element is by audience demand, because last season’s “Tony ’n Tina’s Wedding,” with audience members playing the wedding guests, drew record box office for LCLT.
Auditioners can read from supplied material, sing along to a song file that they bring, dance to music they bring, and/or sing a song a cappella.
